How to Opt In by Texting START

Businesses that use Highmark support keyword opt-in. You can begin receiving SMS messages from a Highmark-powered business by texting START to their number.

Opt-In Consent Language
By texting START to a Highmark-powered business number, you agree to receive SMS messages from [Business Name] via Highmark for customer support, booking assistance, and service updates. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Reply HELP for help. Privacy Policy · Terms of Service

When you text START, the business will send a confirmation message before any other messages are sent. Here is an example of that exchange:

How Messaging Works

Highmark is an AI SMS concierge platform. We provide the messaging technology — businesses use it to communicate with their own customers.

1
You opt in

You opt in by texting START to a business's number, or by providing your phone number and agreeing to receive messages on a business's website or booking form.

2
You agree to receive messages

At the point of opt-in, clear consent language is displayed. You agree to receive SMS from that specific business only. Consent is not shared across businesses.

3
Highmark delivers the messages

Highmark's AI concierge sends and receives messages on behalf of the business. Messages relate only to your relationship with that business.

4
You stay in control

Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. No further messages are sent. Reply START to re-enable if you change your mind.

Alternative: Opt In via Web Form

Some businesses collect phone numbers through a web form and present opt-in consent at that point. This is an alternative to the keyword opt-in flow. When this method is used, consent is captured with a checkbox similar to this:

Example — as seen on a business's website

This checkbox is for illustration only. Businesses customize the displayed name and purposes to match their services.

Types of Messages You May Receive

Depending on your interaction, messages may include:

Message Frequency and Rates

Message frequency varies based on your level of interaction with the business. You may receive a few messages during an active inquiry or booking process, and fewer or none after that. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier.

STOP, HELP, and START

Standard SMS keywords are always supported, regardless of the business or conversation state:

Opt-outs are processed before any other message handling. They are immediate and reliable.

Business Responsibility and Consent Scope

Each business that uses Highmark is individually responsible for:

Consent is never shared across businesses. If you consent to receive messages from Business A, that consent does not apply to Business B — even if both use Highmark. You only receive messages from businesses you have specifically engaged with and consented to.
